All pieces of tesserae are handcut. Substrates consist of heavily textured surface covered by paint that contains genuine copper particles, and is sealed. Tesserae are natural slate, and stained glass shards over special reflective materials. In sunlight or under gallery lighting the artwork has "illuminative" qualities.
